- Tim Lefroy tells industry it must ‘wake up and smell the coffee’
In a speech today at the MediaGuardian ‘Changing Advertising’ Summit, Tim Lefroy, Chief Executive of the Advertising Association said:
“Less than 15% of adults ‘generally trust advertising’ today.
If current trends continue, for the first time ever, people who are against advertising, who want it more controlled and regulated will, in a few years outnumber those who are 'for it', who feel that our freedoms are well placed.”

- Response to the BMA report on alcohol marketing
Responding to calls for a comprehensive ban on all alcohol marketing communications, Rae Burdon, Chief Operating Officer of the Advertising Association, said:
“Proposals for a blanket ‘one size fits all’ marketing ban coming from Professor Gerard Hastings and the British Medical Association are not a surprise. However, as the Department of Health has stated today, it is more important to take all evidence into account and to react proportionately.
