The Advertising Association Council is ‘the AA’s parliament’. It identifies and debates the key issues facing the future of advertising and communications and is the formal industry gateway to the self-regulatory system via CAP – the Committee of Advertising Practice. Chaired by the President of the Advertising Association, our Council meets twice a year, and includes the President, as the lead practitioner, from each of our Member trade bodies supported by the director general as appropriate.
President – Andy Duncan
Also on Council are the Chairs of the AA networks including Front Foot and the Media Business Course. As new networks develop – such as our Children’s Panel – they will typically be represented on Council. We also select practitioner representatives from key industry sectors alongside or instead of that sector’s trade association, for example, television, publishers, internet and sponsorship, reflecting their organisation’s direct funding of the AA.
Membership of Council is dynamic, reflecting changes in the constituent trade associations and practitioner organisations as they occur.
Andy was appointed President of the Advertising Association in January 2014. He is CEO of Camelot UK Lotteries and responsible for all of Camelot’s operations for The National Lottery in the UK. He previously worked at Unilever, as Director of the BBC, as Chairman of Freeview, CEO of Channel 4, CEO of H R Owen and Chair of Media Trust.
Alongside the AA President, Chairman and Chief Executive, the AA Council is comprised of senior representatives from ASBOF/BASBOF, BIMA, BSkyB, CAA, CAP/BCAP, Channel 4, Channel 5, COBA, DMA, Facebook, Google, IAB UK, IPA, IPM, ISBA, ITV, MAA, MMA, MRS, NMA, Outsmart, POPAI, PPA, RadioCentre and Twitter, along with the Chairmen of Media Smart, Front Foot and the AA Media Business Course.
