The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

UKAEG LAUNCHES FIRST EVER VIRTUAL TRADE MISSION AT COGX

/ May 29th 2020
Exports and International Trade

In March 2020 we launched the UK Advertising Exports Group (UKAEG) with an ambition to grow exports of advertising and marketing services around the world, support the international growth of UK advertising and marketing services and build on the UK’s position as a global advertising hub. We’re determined to continue as we started, to show the world we are open for business, and to provide the very best showcase of all the great work and services offered by UKAEG members.

We are starting our global roadshow at virtual CogX, the UK’s biggest global leadership summit and festival of AI and breakthrough technology, running from the 8-10 June. Virtual Cog-X expects more than 30,000 people to view the festival’s 18 stages, one of which is focused on Createch and we are happy to be a supporter.  This year’s event is therefore a great opportunity to show how the UK creative industries are innovating in extraordinary times, reach a senior global audience, and address how creativity and tech can help get the next ten years right.

We are delighted that 50 companies will be joining us on this virtual trade mission where we are hosting an ambitious programme of live-streamed content, providing digital networking, and one2one meetings with international clients. We are supporting the Createch stage and will also host a panel discussion on Tuesday 9 at 3pm on the new tools of engagement – Voice, AR, Chatbot and AI with Matt Duhig, Managing Director & Technical Director, FX Digital; Daniel Cheetham, CEO, Happy Finish; and Kibwe Tavares, TED Senior Fellow, Film Maker & Architect, Factory Fifteen and Nexus Studios.

We are also working closely with our friends at the Shanghai International Advertising Festival (SHIAF) to co-host a booth and a number of meetings with China-based companies and UKAEG members to discuss potential collaborations. In addition, we will also be providing the 30,000 attendees the opportunity to hear from some of our UKAEG members as we host a series a presentation over the three days. Topics include:

  • Me, Myself and AI: What we learnt through our digital cloning experiments, and why it’s now more relevant than ever, with Daniel Cheetham, CEO, Happy Finish
  • Digital pollution: Why your design and development decisions could be killing the planet, with Charlotte Walsh Co-Founder & Partnerships Director at Digital Detox
  • How Voice and TV will come of age after COVID-19 and the role they will play in rebuilding brands, with Matt Duhig – Managing Director & Technical Director, FX Digital
  • The future of fashion online, with Raluca Rusoiu, PR & Social Media Manager, Crowd.

Stephen Woodford, Chief Executive, Advertising Association, commented: “As the UK advertising and marketing services industry looks to the future, Createch represents a great opportunity to showcase our expertise, engage with a global industry community and boost our exports. Innovation and adaptability have long been the hallmarks of the UK tech and creative industries sectors and it is great to see this event evolving its format to changing times, to remain as relevant and successful as ever. The UK Advertising Exports Group is delighted to be involved in Createch 2020.”

Janet Hull, IPA Director of Marketing Strategy & UKAEG Chair commented: “The UK is one of the world’s leading creative hubs, with a world-renowned reputation for the best creative talent, innovation and ideas. This opportunity with Createch and CogX allows our UKAEG members to demonstrate their credentials on an international stage and also ensure the UK’s global leadership position. The new virtual format also serves our interests in reaching a bigger audience.”

If you are unable to attend CogX we will also be hosting a series of events around Lions Live and SHIAF this summer. Full details will be available on our events page over the coming weeks.
