The Advertising Association promotes the role and rights of responsible advertising and its value to people, society, businesses and the economy. We represent UK advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

A A A

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

What’s your brief, chief?

Yesterday morning we hosted our second Brexit insight briefing at the AA, which provided an update from DCMS and BEIS on the latest Brexit developments and ‘no-deal’ preparations, followed by a Q&A. The Government continues to publish advice for businesses on Brexit in the unlikely event of ‘no-deal’.

The Home Office also briefed participants on the EU Settlement Scheme. EU citizens and their family members living in the UK will need to apply to the scheme if they want to continue living, working and studying in the UK beyond 30 June 2021. The Prime Minister recently announced that there will be no fee when the scheme opens fully on 30 March 2019.

Food FAU thought

The Food Advertising Unit (FAU) met at the AA this week. During the meeting, ITV briefed participants on the new  ‘Eat them to defeat them’ campaign, which challenges young people to eat more vegetables. The group agreed that there was scope for Media Smart to provide a resource to be used in schools. The AA updated members on recent developments and engagement, and expect that the forthcoming HFSS consultation will be published soon.

Cannes you feel the love tonight?

On Wednesday afternoon, we welcomed members of the Cannes Working Group, Channel 4, Clear Channel, Framestore, M&C Saatchi and DIT,  to our offices to give an update on our activity at Cannes Lions and a look back on our events that we held on 30 January.

Keep an eye on our channels next week when we will be launching the Young Lions competition registration!
