The Advertising Association promotes the role and rights of responsible advertising and its value to people, society, businesses and the economy. We represent UK advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

A A A

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

Showcasing industry’s digital revolution in parliament

On September 3, we will be leading a showcase for our recent Ad Pays 7 report at Portcullis House in Westminster. The report, which was written by advertising’s think tank Credos in partnership with Enders Analysis, looks at the revolution that has taken place in digital advertising in the UK over the last 25 years, which has made the country the largest online ad market in Europe and the third largest in the world after the US and China.

The event will be open to parliamentarians and their staff members who will be able to meet case study businesses from the report and discover how the digital ad market is growing the UK economy by enabling SMEs and other businesses up and down the country to advertise more. If you’d like to learn more, contact Mark Johnson on the AA team.

Plans, plans, plans

This week we held a planning meeting with representatives from the IPA and DIT on Promote UK activity for the coming year. Promote UK is a cross industry group founded to further position the UK as the global hub for the advertising industry. The aim is to grow membership of the group and build on this year’s extensive programme of activity, which included advertising’s first dedicated Exports Month, trade missions to the Shanghai International Ad Festival, SXSW, and Tokyo, as well as showcasing British advertising at Cannes Lions. If you want to get involved in the exciting plans for 2020, contact Matt Bourn on the AA team.

Adland of song

Llongyfarchiadau (that’s congratulations in Welsh) to Matthew Evans on our Comms team, who recently came second in the National Eisteddfod of Wales with his choir singing a programme of five songs over 12 minutes. The national festival of art and music took place in Llanrwst, North Wales and Matt competed with the Borough Welsh Choir from South London in the section for mixed choirs of more than 20 people. You can watch the full performance here or a couple of highlights here and here.
