The Advertising Association promotes the role and rights of responsible advertising and its value to people, society, businesses and the economy. We represent UK advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

A A A

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

TIMETO TAKE ACTION

On Wednesday, our very own Heather Young, Deputy Director,Publishing – Credos, and AA Communications Director, Matt Bourn, spoke at Bloom’s BloomFest about timeTo, the industry-wide initiative to eradicate sexual harassment in the industry.

Their talk revealed new research by Credos that shows 1 in10 people from timeTo-endorsing companies have experienced sexual harassment in the last 12 months. In response to the findings, timeTo has launched an extensive toolkit, a refreshed ‘Where Do You Draw The Line?’ campaign and a brand new training programme.

Karen Fraser MBE, Director of Credos, commented: “While awareness levels of timeTo and the ‘Where Do You DrawThe Line?’ campaign are good, it’s clear that sexual harassment is still happening in our industry, as recently as in the past 12 months. Most victims are not officially reporting sexual harassment and this has to change. Our industry needs a new set of tools and resources to help put an end to sexual harassment.”

SUPERSTAR SPEAKERS – HERE WE GO!

Yesterday we announced the stellar line-up of speakers for our Media Business Course (MBC), which includes the likes of WPP’s Karen Blackett OBE, Uncommon’s Nils Leonard and Alex Mahon of Channel 4!

MBC is firmly established as the place where hundreds of young industry practitioners get the opportunity to learn from industry experts on how the media planning world operates, and many of its alumni have gone on to achieve great success at the highest levels of industry – from Chief Executive of ITV, Dame Carolyn McCall, who was a delegate in 1988, to Rachel Bristow, Director of Partnerships at Sky Media and Grant Millar, now Global Lead at advertising agency Spark Foundry, to name but a few.

Our fantastic MBC Co-Chairs, Karen Stacey, CEO, DCM and David Wilding, Director of Planning, Twitter UK, commented: “Once again we have a truly stellar line up for the Media Business Course, and our tutors and judges are looking forward to an action packed and inspiring week, working with the best young talent in the industry – we can’t wait to get started!”

WHAT A SHOW!

Last night we were lucky enough to attend the APA Show 2019 at the Tate Modern and watch a brilliant showcase of the UK’s best ads, which were judged by a selection of the industry’s top creative, production and directing talent. It really was amazing to see all of the incredible creative work that our industry produces in one film – it is a completetestament to our industry and the quality of talent behind it!

Huge thanks to the APA for inviting us (and for providing endless fun in the photo-booth and ball pit)!
