The Advertising Association promotes the role and rights of responsible advertising and its value to people, society, businesses and the economy. We represent UK advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

A A A

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

TAKING AP8 TO WESTMINSTER

This week we announced that our Parliamentary Reception will take place on March 17 at the House of Commons and will focus on the many ways that UK advertising makes a positive contribution to society.

Hosted by Damian Collins MP, the evening will bring together an audience made up of politicians, civil servants and industry leaders. It will also showcase Credos’ latest report – Advertising Pays 8: UK Advertising’s Social Contribution – and advertising work from companies including Channel 4, ITV, Sky and Media Smart.

Our President Keith Weed said: “This year’s Parliamentary Reception is the perfect forum to demonstrate the huge contribution that advertising makes to society. By sharing with political leaders and the public the extent and examples of the positive impact advertising makes, we will help to rebuild the bond of trust between our industry and the general public, which is a core tenet of my role as President.”

To request an invitation to our Parliamentary Reception please email Daniel Bestwick.

POST-BREXIT MIGRATION PLANS

On Wednesday the Government announced new migration plans where from 1 January 2021, there will be a new points-based system enabling foreign skilled workers to enter the country if they have a job offer earning above £25,600. Coupled with this will be the ability of students to stay on in the country for two years after graduating and freelancers can be employed for up to 20 hours a week under the skilled worker route.

Commenting on the announcement our Chief Executive, Stephen Woodford, said: “We welcome the certainty today’s Government announcement brings in clarifying how the future immigration system will work. The UK is a global hub for advertising and the flow of skilled talent to and from the UK has helped attract business to this country and increase the number of advertising jobs for UK citizens.”
