The Advertising Association promotes the role and rights of responsible advertising and its value to people, society, businesses and the economy. We represent UK advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

A A A

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

A marathon feat for team AA

Yesterday, on the hottest day of the year, team AA decided to do what any sane and normal group of colleagues would do and ran a marathon. But this was a marathon with a difference…

Front Foot Chairman Mark Evans has been the driving force behind the annual Sprintathon event, which since 2016 has raised money in aid of cancer research by bringing together groups of people to run a marathon in 100m sprint relays. This year was the first time it was a cross-Adland event and the first to be held in partnership with Campaign magazine. Over 60 agencies, media owners, publishers and trade bodies took part and ran the combined marathon distance in 1.50.56!

The event has so far raised almost £100,000 for Stand Up To Cancer – you can still make a donation here. You can read our full write-up and see a gallery of images from the day on our website here.

Ch..ch..ch..changes…

Following the appointment of Boris Johnson as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, our Chief Executive Stephen Woodford issued a statement welcoming the new PM to office and hoping to work closely with the new Government for the benefit of our industry.

Stephen commented: “We congratulate Boris Johnson on his appointment as Prime Minister and look forward to working with him and his administration for the benefit of the UK across Government: with DCMS as our sponsor department and a crucial partner in our drive to grow the creative industries; with DIT on building exports of UK advertising services; and with DHSC on the important issue of finding solutions to the problem of childhood obesity and how advertising can help in this area.”

To read the full statement you can head over to our website here. Stephen’s comment was also included in a piece by Campaign here.

We have also welcomed a new Secretary of State at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport – Nicky Morgan MP. You can read Stephen’s statement on this appointment on our website here.
