The Advertising Association promotes the rights, roles and responsibilities of advertising. We represent UK advertisers, agencies and brands on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around Brexit, HFSS and gambling advertising, data and-privacy, trust, the digital charter and our Industrial Strategy campaigns.

Enter our UK Young Lions competition and win the chance to represent the UK Advertising Industry this summer in Cannes!

As UK Representative for Cannes Lions, we’re looking to find the very best  young creative talent to compete on behalf of the UK at Cannes Lions in June against other young advertising professionals from around the world.

The Young Lions Competitions in Cannes

This is where the next generation of creative stars go head-to-head. If you’re under 30 the Young Lions competitions are one of the best places at the festival to celebrate your creativity on a global stage. How to enter!

We are running 6 competitions – Design, Digital, Film, Marketers, Media and Print. The competitions are free of charge and teams work on the briefs remotely.

Together with our partners Channel 4, Clear Channel, the Department of International Trade, Framestore, London & Partners, M&C Saatchi and Newsworks, we will be flying 12 young people (comprising of 6 teams of 2) to Cannes to compete in the global Young Lions competitions.

We have now closed the online registration for the competition.

Category Team Criteria

Please note: Team partners do not have to be employed at the same company.

Our brief will be based on the “challenge” detailed in each Cannes competition. HOWEVER we are allowing from 5pm on 22/3  to 23:59 on 25/3 to complete submissions for all categories.

  • DESIGN: Open to a team of two design professionals eg. graphic designers, art directors, photographers.
  • DIGITAL: Open to a team of two digital professionals eg. social media managers, creative technologists, UX designers, digital designers/producers.
  • FILM: Open to a team of two creative professionals eg. art directors, producers, film makers, creatives.
  • MARKETERS: Open to a team of two marketing professionals working for a brand ie. a client company that engages the services of advertising and communications companies (i.e. Intel, Coca- Cola etc.). Agencies may not compete in the Marketers competition.
  • MEDIA: Open to a team of two media professionals working within a media agency or within the in-house media department of an agency (i.e planner/buyer/strategist). In-house media depts. of clients are not eligible to enter this category.
  • PRINT: Open to a team of two creative professionals eg. art directors,  copy writers, producers, creatives.

Participants must be 30 years or younger (born after June 22, 1988).

Entrants must be a current employee within the advertising / marketing industry, be UK resident or have a valid UK work permit, and be aged between 18 and 30 on 22 June 2019. The full entry criteria and terms and conditions will be sent with the competition brief to registered teams.
